How do I know what size of radiator valve to buy?
You need to have the right sized valve to make your radiator work properly.
In the UK, the industry standard for copper pipes in homes and businesses is 15mm wide. This has been the way for over a century now, but custom houses and older buildings may have pipes of varying widths depending on when they were built.
For example, if you know you have microbore pipework in your home, then it’s most likely you’ll have 8mm or 10mm pipes in place.
What size radiator valves do Trade Radiators have in stock?
Radiator valve sizes include:
Do I need a radiator reducer as well?
It’s not a necessity, but you may want to have radiator reducers/adaptors installed as well to 100% make sure the valve is sealed in place, and you won’t end up with any leaks from mismatched pipe sizes.
You can shop our range of radiator adaptors here.
What else should I consider when buying a radiator valve?
Make sure you pick a valve that compliments the colour of your radiator installation. For example, you don’t want to have a lovely new anthracite radiator with a white valve stuck on as it wouldn’t look right, and you can check our range of radiator valves by finish to find the best complimentary valve.
You also want to consider the shape of the valve and whether you need a straight, corner or angled valve. You can shop here for radiator valves by type.
