Case study - Italian Centre Apartment, Glasgow

We've been absolutely delighted to be closely involved in this fanastic apartment renovation in The Italian Centre in the heart of Glasgow. Just a stones throw away from George Square, the award-winning Italian Centre was opened in 1991 and was really responsible for kicking off the urban regeneration project in the Merchant City area of Glasgow. This particular flat was purchased by entrepreneur Roger Herbert as couple of years ago in quite a state of disrepair. Roger could see the potential in the building because of it's quality construction and amazing location. "Though I felt the apartment itsellf need completely gutting and starting from scratch, I loved the amount of light that flooded in through the huge sash windows and I knew I could turn it into something special," Roger explains. There was a lot of work involved to get the apartment to the stage that you see in the photos below, with all walls removed and the entire flat being completely remodelled. Roger says: "I've really got to give credit to my builder wee Willy. At one stage he was working 16 hour days, 6 days a week to get the project done, which really helped move things forward, especially as I was away with some of my other business ventures." The results as we're sure you'll agree are pretty spectacular with some lovely touches throughout the two bedroom flat, including a spacious luxury spa bath in the master bedroom, a dropdown wall projector in the living room and a remote controlled power shower in the bathroom. Trade Radiators was called upon fairly early on in the project to provide heating advice, especially important during those long Glasgow winters. As there is no boiler system in the flat, we discussed the options with Roger and opted for a delightful combination of designer electric radiators and infrared panels to ensure the apartment remains comfortable and efficient! Pride of place above the bed is a Electric Frame Glass Infrared Designer Radiator - stylish and energy efficient with 100% of energy converted into heat! ABOVE: Just off George Square, the view out of the master bedroom of the spectacular Glasgow City Chambers, a building worthy of a visit in itself. ABOVE: A slick and minimalist main bathroom, featuring a remote-controlled power shower, a hidden cistern toilet and, most importantly, a Pisa Black Designer Heated Towel Rail. ABOVE: The most recently-finished part of the apartment is the geneously proportioned second bedroom, again with the huge sash windows, great view and heat provided by the Anthracite Electric Vela Designer Radiators.
