Be Energy Efficient to Combat the Price Rises

Much has been made of the recent energy price rises. These price increases come at a time when consumers have to be more careful with their money than ever before, and millions will see their fuel bill go up.‹¯¨ However, there are a number of ways to try and stay one step ahead of the price hikes. One way of saving money is to have energy efficient radiators in your home. Aluminium radiators have a number of features that make them an excellent choice when looking for an energy efficient way to heat your home. The best thing about aluminium radiators is what they’re made from! Aluminium heats up very quickly, which means you can warm up your room in a very short space of time, without wasting energy. This is because aluminium is an excellent thermal conductor, meaning heat can pass through it very quickly, which is just want you want from a radiator, particularly during the cold winter months. By using less energy than other radiators, it means aluminium radiators can help you save money on your water, gas and electricity bills without having to sit at home in the dark, shivering! Another quality of aluminium is the fact it is comparatively light, compared to other metals. This makes it cheaper to buy and easier to transport and install. Aluminium’s physical properties mean it is easy to reshape and this means you can find some incredibly stylish designs, such as sophisticated vertical radiators with coloured gloss finishes. Aluminium is very easy to recycle – since the early 1990s, most drinks cans have been made from aluminium, allowing them to be re-used – and the recycling process, which simply involves melting down the scrap aluminium, only uses 5% of the energy used in the production of new aluminium. As well as using energy efficient radiators, there are other ways to make your home more energy efficient and prevent price rises having hitting your bank balance: * Don’t leave lights on if you’re not in the room * Switch off electrical appliances when they’re not in use, rather than leave them on standby * Keep windows and doors closed to prevent heat escaping * Don’t use washing machines and dishwashers unless they’re full * Use a lower temperature in your washing machine if possible – the vast majority of energy used by a washing machine comes from heating the water ‹¯¨
