Towel warmers - never sacrifice efficiency for looks

Towel warmers - never sacrifice efficiency for looks

Interior design is becoming ever more influential in the heat emitter marketplace. With end users now looking for products that combine both performance and aesthetics, it is vital that installers are able to help advise their clients on how to choose the most suitable product. In this article we explain more.

Choosing to install a new heat emitter, particularly  in an established property with an existing interior design style, is a considerable commitment - afterall homeowners will have to live with that product for a number of years. With manufacturers offering such vast product ranges, colours and finishes, it can be daunting for end users to know where to start, making it vital that installers are in a position to help advise their clients.

Looks must never be allowed to overshadow energy efficiency. Modern radiators and towel warmers have moved on immeasurably in recent years and now offer greater efficiency than ever before. So, when quoting for a boiler replacement, it is always advisable to consider the age of the radiators and towel warmers in the property. Installing new emitters will allow homeowners to reduce the temperature of the heating system, or opt for a renewable heat source. This is due to the improvements in the design of modern radiators as they are now able to maximise heat output from lower temperature systems, due to increased surface area.

The growing popularity of reneable energy sources has resulted in manufacturers deigning heat emitters that can operate with minimal water content and at low system temperatures design panel radiators are perfect examples of this, but modern towel warmers are also valid alternatives. From ladder designs to more elaborate and intricate curved towel warmers every part of the product is able to emit heat, making use of all the available heat in a low temperature system. Even with towel hanging on them, the open design of many towel warmers means that heat can still escape into the room creating a warm and comfortable environment, while being extremely energy efficient.

Guaranteed of output

The introduction CE marking offers a guarantee of output, indicating that a product is fit for purpose and meets the EN442 requirement standards set out by law. The CE Mark offers added peace of mind to both installers and end users that the product being installed is of a high standard and can be relied upon to provide the output that it promises.

The bathroom, in particular, is a room where interior interior design trends have undergone a significant shift in recent years. Many newly refurbished or new bathrooms are largely or completely tiled, either in monochrome or stone colours and, other than repainting the ceiling from time to time, homeowners do not expect to update the decor for many years. So, the heat emitter installed must bring a timeless style, and high quality manufacturing to be versatile and durable enough to stand the test of time.

As with any heating product, instllers should advise their customers to select a product from a quality manufacturer. These products should offer a generous guarantee, for added peace of mind that they will last until it is time to update the room once again.

A choice of colour

While chrome finishes have become the norm in many bathrooms there are now a host of other options available to choose from. With a huge range of RAL colours on offer and finishes ranging from matte and gloss to anode, there really is an option to suit each and every taste. A vanilla inspired towel warmer, for example, can look exceptionally stylish in a light stone bathroom, as well as providing ample storage and a warm comfortable environment.

Slate coloured bathrooms are also increasing in popularity and as a result manufacturers are seeing an increase in demand for complimentary towel warmers, such as those in a matte black. In a modern slate inspired bathroom, stylish black towel warmers couldn't be more suitable.

Another advantage of selecting a radiator, or towel warmer, with a powder coated colour finish is that they are extremely resistant to rust - perfect for the humid environment of the bathroom. Not only does the ladder design of products provide storage, they are also extremely efficient as the exposed tubes are able to emit heat from their entire surface area.

There has also been a shift away from the traditional white radiator in the rest of the home, particularly in modern interiors where minimalist design is key. As interior design trends have changed, gret and black heat emitters have become increasingly popular throughout the home. Whether it is in a contemporary dwelling, or a traditional interior with a twist, installers need to have a comprehensive understanding of lternatives to the traditional white or chrome emitter.

Selecting the righ finish can be just as significant. For example, in an entirely ceramic bathroom a smooth gloss finish is perfectly in keeping, while in a room with exposed brickwork a matte or anodised finish can add a complementary texture, as well as bringing some additional flare to a room.

Anodised finishes are a fantastic option for installers to be aware of, particularly for projects where properties are being redeveloped. Heat emitters with an anode finish can be the perfect finishing touch in homes with an industrial feel, where structural features have been left exposed to add character to an interior.

The days of simply choosing between white and chrome are now a thing of the past and being on hand to help people select a heat emitter that provides style and longevity is not key for installers. Interior design trends are affecting what people are looking for from an emitter on an increasing basis, so understanding the range of options will be paramount.

With a large range of choice, consumers need the techincal expertise of the installer more than ever, in order to make sure that they never sacrifice energy efficiency for looks.
